We welcome Fr. Luke Syse as Parochial Administrator and Fr. Kumud Chand Nayak as Parochial Vicar of Saints Joachim and Anne Pastorate.
Fr. Luke Syse grew up in rural Blanchardville, WI on a dairy farm. He attended Pecatonica High School and then UW-Madison for Engineering. After college he entered the seminary for the Diocese of Madison. Ordained in 2017 by Bishop Morlino, Fr. Luke has served at St. Paul's Catholic Student Center in Madison, Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Darlington and now here in Saints Joachim & Anne Pastorate since July of 2023. In his free time Fr. Luke loves to play golf in the summer and basketball in the winter. In the fall he likes to hunt and in the spring...? Well, he is still playing basketball in the spring! He is an avid Badger, Packer and Brewer fan.
Fr. Kumud Chand Nayak is from the state of Orissa (East Coast of India), the neighboring state to Calcutta. He shares a birthday with St. John the Baptist and has a great love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He is the first born of 5 of Mr. Sujan & Mrs. Pabitra Nayak. Fr. Kumud was ordained on the eve of the Solemnity of the of Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary, Dec 7, 2020, by His Excellency Donald J Hying at the Holy Names Heights, Madison, in the midst of the horrible Pandemic. By profession he is a teacher but by vocation, a Priest according to the order of Melchizedek. For many years prior to becoming a Diocesan Priest Fr. Kumud was a lay administrator of parishes in Dubai and then a religious brother. Fr. Kumud is known for his dynamic preaching and love of God!
